What is elegance for a French woman? It is not on how she dresses, how much her clothes or shoes cost, or how much jewelry she wears. Elegance is an attitude. The way she walks, speaks, eats, and lives her life. The French woman is proud and assertive, yet, tender and sexy. She knows how to balance her work life with her personal life.
First the elegance comes from within. It starts by what you eat. I will always start my day with a warm lemon juice to wake up my body. Lemon juice clear the complexion by draining the toxins out of your body. It is a great habit to have every morning.
The French woman doesn’t care about fashion per se. She wears only what fits her. She likes to mix old and new, expensive and cheap. She would rather buy quality over quantity. She likes to update her wardrobe every year with a few fashion statements.
Because she buys quality clothes, she recycles everything all the time. Her sweaters are in cashmere. It is better to have one great 3 ply cashmere cardigan than 3 or 4 inexpensive one that will plush after the first wear!
Her shirts are in cotton or silk; her pants have an impeccable cut. She likes the simple dress. She loves accessories. It is so elegant to wear a simple black dress with a colorful Hermes scarf, or a shawl added over just on one shoulder. Her clothes are never too tight. Like Coco Chanel used to say, elegant and classy women don’t wear tight clothes! The pair of jeans, the white shirt, the little black dress, the trench coat, the silk camisole and the cashmere sweater and cardigan all make up her wardrobe. Not to forget those flat shoes.
To walk a lot, you need some flat shoes or with just an inch of heel to maintain your posture. The French woman walks a lot. That’s one of the reason why she is always slim. She drinks a lot of water. My husband is amazed how many bottles of Evian I can drink per day!
Have you ever been to a French grocery store? There are lots of different brands of water. They all have different tastes and purposes. I love water. I will drink water over any soda or soft drinks. Water drains your toxins as well, nourishes your body and makes your skin look healthy. Water is the first anti-aging product, and it is not expensive!
The French woman does everything in moderation. Less is better! That is our motto. The French woman is confident. She does not care what the others are thinking of her. She is who she is. She knows that if she feels good about herself, everything will be fine. When we feel good inside, it reflects on the outside.
She does not wear too much makeup. If she does, she wears a gloss instead of lipstick. It looks more natural. She never makes up the eyes and the lips together. It is one or the other.
Because her beauty comes from within, she will not mind the wrinkles. Her beauty is in the experiences of her life. It is so much more appealing than a Botox face without expressions. Simple beauty, timeless style, and inner confidence shining through — that is what makes the French woman eternally elegant!
